People who follow Ball State basketball closely know no healthy player on the team's roster is taller than 6-feet-4-inches, meaning most Ball State opponents have at least one player four inches taller than the tallest Cardinal.
Despite the slippery road conditions that followed the first snowfall of the year, there were few weather-related accidents, according to police. Bob Fey, associate director of public safety, said there was one incident of a vehicle sliding off the road early Wednesday, and nobody was injured.
Students looking for a late-night ride to businesses on the north side of town will have to look beyond Muncie Indiana Transit System's North Loop. Mary Gaston, assistant general manager for MITS, said the North Loop was discontinued indefinitely on Wednesday because of a lack of sponsorship after running for four weeks.
After another game of struggling offense Tuesday night, Ball State University women's basketball coach Tracy Roller transferred all of her frustration from her team to her clipboard as she slammed it onto the court. The 71-54 loss to Illinois State University marks the Cardinals third straight loss, the first time Ball State has lost three games in a row since 2004.
When it comes to environmental conservation, the effects of routine activities such as washing cars, walking dogs and fertilizing lawns might be overlooked. Senior public history major Dean Kessler said when it rains in Muncie, runoff from leftover soaps, animal feces and fertilizers can pollute waterways from the White River to the Gulf of Mexico.
Staff at the Amelia T. Wood Health Center will give out flu shots between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. today. Pharmacist Lisa Dorer said there is a $29 fee for the shots, which students can pay for with cash, checks or through their Bursar accounts. Students can walk in and do not need to make an appointment, Dorer said.

Mayoral candidates are awaiting results of a recount after a Delaware County judge denied the Republican Party's request to have the votes recounted in another county. County Clerk Karen Wenger said Judge Robert Barnet Jr. denied the request on Monday. Republican Party Attorney David Brooks said the party's request for a change of venue last week was intended to ensure a fair and unbiased recount.
The National Weather Service is predicting a total cumulation of two to five inches of snow with one to three inches on the ground when Ball State University students wake up today. Ed Terrell, a meteorological technician at the weather service, said there was a snow advisory until 6 p.
Students planning to go to a "Wasted Wednesday" party tonight can do so knowing this is the day America repealed its great experiment of Prohibition. The 21st Amendment was ratified Dec. 5, 1933. It repealed the 18th Amendment, which was passed 14 years earlier.
Wednesday's snow might have been a change for students, but it's back to business for Ball State maintenance crews. Kevin Kenyon, vice president of facilities planning and management, said crews have been working overtime to clear campus sidewalks, making them safe for pedestrians.
With one month remaining before the International Bowl, Ball State University has more than 9,900 tickets to sell. Ball State sold 70 tickets for the Jan. 5, game as of just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Ball State ticket office. The university has 10,000 tickets to sell for the game.
To lighten spirits before finals the Ball State University Student Government Association senators had a white elephant gift exchange to end their last meeting of Fall Semester. Before the exchange, the senators met in their respective caucuses and committees to discuss the progress of platform items in the research or implementation process.

To show the cultural history of Title IX, a group of 17 students and one professor made a video focusing on the Burris Laboratory School community and women's volleyball team. Kecia McBride, fall fellow for the Virginia B. Ball Center and associate professor in the English department, said she wanted to do a video on Burris because she was interested in the community and the building.
Ball State University men's basketball coach Billy Taylor, a former athlete himself, is acutely aware of what five close defeats in a row can do to a team, especially when that team is as young as his Cardinals' team. Heading into tonight's game at Purdue University, Taylor said he emphasized the process of building a team from the ground up to keep his team's spirits high.
Throughout Ball State University's 71-54 loss to Illinois State University on Tuesday, the paint was dominated by the Redbirds forward/center combo of Ashleen Bracey and Nicolle Lewis. Bracey was the offense to Lewis' defense. Lewis used her 6-foot-6-inch frame to block or alter the Cardinals' shots from in the paint.
Four perfect pebbles. Pebbles were what 9-year-old Marion Blumenthal Lazan searched for while she was in the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen in Germany. She believed if she could find four perfect pebbles, the four members of her family would survive. Sixty years later, Lazan speaks to a variety of groups, from school children to church groups, around the world about her experiences.
Resident Assistants who want to attend the International Bowl need to think again. Ro Anne Royer, assistant director of housing and residence life, said RAs are contractually obligated to return to Ball State University by Jan. 4 to help students move in Jan.
