MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals shoot their way out of losing steak

Senior guard Peyton Stovall got his groove back Wednesday night. After attempting a total of 10 shots in Ball State University's previous two games, Stovall shot 10 times and made seven on his way to a game-high 22 points. The Cardinals put up their highest point total of the season to beat the University at Buffalo 76-67.

Wins in the one-meter and three-meter dives Saturday earned a Ball State University senior the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week. Stephanie Paul earned the award by winning both of the diving events at Ball State's swimming and diving meet against Miami University.

Because of DeHority Complex's closure, Panhellenic Council will soon be stepping back from focusing on recruitment, PHC President Amanda Hendrix said. Students who talk about sexually transmitted infections with their partners are three times less likely to contract infections, according to Christina Johnson and Elena Petrova, members of the Health Education and Psychology Outreach Team. At a Black Student Association-sponsored sex talk event, Johnson and Petrova talked to students about knowing their sexual limits and being open and honest with their partners.

The Ball State University track and field team has opted to withdraw from today's Hoosier Hills meet in Bloomington because of sickness. Assistant coach Steve Rajewsky said the illness and injuries that hindered the team in last week's Meyo Invitational have persisted.

Hoke signs enhanced contract

Football coach Brady Hoke agreed to an enhanced contract with Ball State University Wednesday. The enhanced contract increases Hoke's salary to $240,000 per year, according to a press release. It also includes additional and enhanced incentives, according to the press release.

SOCCER: Cardinals add four recruits

Of the seven women who originally said they would play soccer for Ball State University next season, four of them signed national letters of intent. Interim head coach Abby Richter announced Tuesday the Cardinals had signed Jackie Arroyo, Abby Milillo, Sarah Orisich and Alison Ramsey for the 2008 season.

Weaver to step down as dean

After 14 years leading Ball State University's Teachers College, Dean Roy Weaver is stepping down to focus on returning to the classroom. "I've been in the Dean's office for nearly 25 years," Weaver said, referring to his ten years as associate dean beginning in 1982, followed by his promotion to the position of dean in 1993.
