Injury has been commonplace through four weeks of competition for the Ball State University gymnastics team. So has been the theme of Ball State's wintery campus: the flu. "We've had eight girls with the flu this week," coach Nadalie Walsh said of the week's practices.

FOOTBALL: Collins wants to add exclusive club

As the Ball State University football team added 22 new players Wednesday, athletics director Tom Collins looked to add more supporters for the team. Collins announced the formation of the "Touchdown Club" at the Cardinals' National Signing Day Celebration Wednesday at the Alumni Center.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Road game woes continue for Cards with 3rd-straight loss

Oxford, Ohio - Leading the Mid-American Conference West Division after a four-game home winning streak, the Ball State University men's basketball team headed east to take on Miami University. The Cardinals' road show still needs a bit of work. The RedHawks handed the Cardinals their third-straight defeat on the road, 59-41.

OXFORD, Ohio - The Ball State University men's basketball team expected a bigger, more physical opponent in Miami University going into Wednesday night's Mid-American Conference road matchup against the RedHawks. What they did not expect was to be outscored 40-10 in the paint, and the difference down low was costly in the Cardinals' 59-41 loss in front of 2,481 fans at Miami's John D.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: Ball State, IUPUI reschedule meet for this afternoon

Two days after orginally being scheduled to play, the Ball State University women's tennis team will finally compete against IUPUI this afternoon. The Cardinals' and the Jaguars' non-conference meet will start at 3 p.m. at the YMCA Tennis Center. This match was scheduled for Tuesday but it was postponed after IUPUI could not arrive in Muncie on time due to multiple car accidents in the snowy weather causing Interstate-69 to close.

News flash: United States Olympian Michael Phelps got baked! Wahoo! After admitting to "behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment," Phelps has received stern criticism for his actions. While I do not condone what the 23-year-old swimmer did, I would like to use Phelps as an example of human behavior and decision-making.

Despite recent tests on Indiana rivers indicating high levels of mercury in their water, the White River tested among the lowest in the state. According to a report from the Environment News Service, Indiana is sixth in the U.S. in the amount of mercury its industrial facilities emit.

JuicyCampus addicts will have to find a new place to get the 411 on student affairs at Ball State University. JuicyCampus founder and CEO Matt Ivester said in a press release Wednesday that today would be the last day for the site. The company's lack of funding and its exponential growth had outpaced its ability to get more resources.

FOOTBALL: Cards sign 22 recruits

When coach Stan Parrish addressed Ball State University football fans Wednesday night, he said there is only one statistic they needed to know from this year's recruiting class: 18-for-18. All 18 players who committed to Ball State when Brady Hoke was the head coach kept their commitments to the Cardinals, Parrish said at the team's National Signing Day Celebration in the Alumni Center.

Election board recognized

As the Student Government Association nomination convention draws near, both SGA President Frank Hood and Elections Chair Marco Pretell-Vazquez confirmed at least one slate will officially announce intentions to run Feb. 16. "I know there have been discussions of at least one slate forming, but who they are, where they come from I can't really say," Hood said after Wednesday's SGA meeting.
