Potential release date for No Man’s Sky at New Yorker Festival
By Cailin Reedy / September 22, 2015An exclusive look into the upcoming adventure/exploration game No Man’s Sky will be shown at the New Yorker Festival. Many of the game’s followers wonder if there is finally a release date in sight. The launch date for No Man’s Sky has been pushed back several times during production. While it had initially been slated for a specific release on the PlayStation 4 platform, creator and project leader Sean Murray stated at E3 2014 that a timed release would not be possible. Due to the game’s open world nature, according to Murray, it was impossible to complete only one section at a time. No Man's Sky's various interconnected systems would each need to advance in tandem with each other. This made for slow, but methodical, production. The premise of No Man’s Sky is simple: climb into a spaceship and explore a galaxy. Numerous side quests and a flexible, open world plot allow players to mine, upgrade equipment, and explore planets never before seen by man, all while avoiding or confronting dangers both natural and man-made. The galaxy itself is enormous and spans more than 18 quintillion procedurally generated planets, each with its own plant and animal life that players can discover and permanently name. The “Blast Off” event will be held October 3 at 7 p.m.
