Hawai'i ends Cardinals' historic season

(05/06/22 1:02pm)

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – After a five-set thriller at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, California, Ball State Men's Volleyball's (23-4, 12-2 MIVA) 2022 season came to an end at the hands of the University of Hawai'i (26-5, 7-3 BWC). “Obviously, a little bummed about that loss but for our path and our journey this season, to be able to fight the defending champions the way we did, in five, I thought we had some good plays there," head coach Donan Cruz said. "They just made a few more than we did. As we think about the growth and the year, to be able to get this point, simply what we spoke about in that last huddle was, ‘There’s really nothing to hang our heads on.’ Although this stings at this moment, as a group, moving forward, these are the things that really get us to that championship mindset."

Without the aid of health insurance, the challenges of dealing with this issue became a mission complete with lots of personal initiative. Artist of the Month: Imani

(05/04/22 7:36pm)

Calling all music lovers! If you are looking for an eccentric sound among the wave of alternative pop and R&B in the Muncie area, look no further than May’s Artist of the Month: Imani. On April 26, I had the chance to interview this Ball State University student. His potential was palpable through the screen of our Zoom call. He wore a pink hoodie and much like the color; he exuded a vibrant and chill demeanor. As a first-generation American, born to Jamaican immigrants, he reflects on music's important role in his life. He grew up listening to reggae, dancehall, R&B, and gospel. He traded in his old stomping ground of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, full of palm trees and balmy weather, for the four-season state of Indiana to study musical theater.

Finals week forecast

(05/02/22 11:38pm)

April was a cool and dry month across northeastern central Indiana. The Delaware County Regional airport received measurable rainfall almost every day in April. Most days, however, it was usually less than 0.10". Interestingly enough, every Sunday in April was dry! Despite record breaking temperatures in the 80s on the 23rd and 24th, we ended the month over 2 degrees below normal! We saw several cool stretches throughout the month and 4 nights with low temperatures below freezing.

Ball State graduate, dining worker and author discusses her books and the experience that helped create them.

(04/30/22 11:00pm)

Kris Ball started writing when she was 6 years old — poetry, song lyrics, short stories. Ball said in the opening of one of her books that, sitting at the foot of her bed, her Aunt Janice — a woman 10 years younger than Ball’s “hands-off” mother — encouraged her to write and “would listen to [her] stupid poems.”
