MUNCIE, IN (NewsLink Indiana) - Drizzle with a few passing rain showers dominated most of East Central Indiana today. However, do not expect to see drastic changes to the forecast for the day on Tuesday. Tonight, expect overcast skies with temperatures dropping down to 48 degrees. We cannot rule out the possibility of some drizzle in the overnight hours. Tomorrow morning, dense patchy fog is possible. Precisioncast fog estimates visibilities to be below 5 miles before 9 a.m. After the fog and overcast skies break mid-morning expect to see some sunshine. This sunshine will allow us to warm up to a high of 70 degrees tomorrow. However, this mid-morning and afternoon heating will be enough to produce late afternoon rain and thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has placed much of central Indiana under a slight risk of severe weather. The primary threat is looking to be damaging winds. However, we can never rule out the chance of a isolated tornado or small hail. The timing of the severe weather primarily lies after 9 p.m. with the line of storms moving out of the area in the early morning hours on Wednesday. Remember to follow us on twitter @NLIWeather for the latest severe weather coverage.

Throughout Saturday evening and through last night, we officially picked up 1.17 inches of rain at the Muncie Airport, and that rain is expected to continue throughout the day today. We will see a slight break in the rain during the early hours, but should start again around noon. There is the slight chance for some thunderstorms throughout the day, so don’t be surprised if you see some lightning or hear some thunder, but we should not expect damaging winds. Overnight we should see the rain system continue to move out of our area. Tuesday we should see some slight breaks in the clouds throughout the day, but they day will continue to be gray. Tuesday evening there will be another low pressure system that will move to the north of us, bringing rain to east central Indiana and the possibility of a thunderstorm in the evening. The NOAA Storm Prediction Center has placed most of central Indiana under a slight risk of severe weather, which is better than the chance for Monday. This means that there is the possibility of damaging winds, thunder, and lightning. Wednesday we will see more of the clouds start to break up, allowing for more sunshine. That sunshine should persist on Thursday and Friday with only a slight chance for rain Thursday night.

MUNCIE, IN (NewsLink Indiana) -- Our temperatures are taking a massive dive as we head into Tuesday night, with lows bottoming out in the lower 20s. Making things much worse will be the wind chill factor. Winds in the 10 to 20 mph range, with gusts over 20, will create wind chill values in the teens to single digits. The sun will come out for a a period on Wednesday afternoon, before more clouds move in ahead of snow arriving late Wednesday and early Thursday. Snow will continue to fall throughout Thursday morning, likely making for a tricky morning commute. Total accumulations are expected to be in the 1 to 2 inch range as of this time, but the temps will be rising throughout the day on Thursday, eventually leading to a rain/snow mix in the early afternoon, likely causing most of the snow that fell earlier in the day to start to melt. Another snow/rain chance arrives on early Saturday as the temps begin to rise as Ball State starts spring break, with temperatures reaching into the 60s by next Tuesday. For more details on the snow and your spring break weather, be sure to check out the most recent video forecast.

We have had just about every season recently and that's not going to stop now. Rain and snow chances in the forecast for tomorrow. The switch should happen around 6-7pm and the storm itself should move out around midnight. A cold front will move through with this storm as highs the rest of the week will be in the mid-30s. Snow chances are in the forecast as well for Thursday and Saturday before we see warmer temperatures in the forecast for the end of the weekend. High on Sunday should be around 50 degrees. To start out next week, temperatures should be in the high 50s to low 60s. So if you are staying in Muncie for spring break, it should be a little warmer than average. -- Weather Forecaster Kalie Pluchel

This past weekend we enjoyed sunny skies and high temperatures in the middle to upper 60s. This week we are going to be brought back to reality as winter returns. Monday we will see partly sunny skies early in the day, but skies will be clearing partially throughout the day, giving us mostly sunny skies in the latter half of the day. Overnight on Monday clouds will begin to roll back in ahead of the next rain/snow system that will move through the area. Tuesday we expect to see cloudy skies and a high temperature hovering around 50 degrees, but rain will dominate the day as we can expect to see rain totals of about 0.25-0.5 inches. Tuesday night there is the chance for the rain to change over to snow, with a period of freezing rain in between, potentially making travel conditions tricky for Wednesday Morning. During the day on Wednesday we will see a break in the weather briefly with partly sunny skies. Thursday is the day we expect to winter return in the form of snow and cold temperatures. As the system moves out of the southwest, the freeze line will move from the northwest, meaning most of the northern half of the state will see snow. Here in Muncie we can expect to have anywhere from 1-3 inches accumulation on Thursday. Friday those cold temperatures are going to stick around, but we will see partly sunny skies.
