Muncie Gras tickets are now on sale, and students have an opportunity to buy tickets at a discounted rate.
Using the promo code BSUMG, students who are 21 and older can go to downtownmuncie.org/munciegras and purchase a ticket for $10 until 11:59 p.m. March 4.
Without the code, tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate.
Muncie Gras is from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. March 19 in the streets of downtown Muncie. It will feature micro wrestling, a mechanical bull, two oxygen bars, fire spinners and other acts.
Muncie DWNTWN is one of senior Jacob Palka’s clients for Cardinal Communications.
His team recognized the $15-$20 price is a lot of money for students, so they approached Cheryl Crowder of the Muncie Downtown Development Partnership with the idea of offering a student discount.
As of March 1, 46 percent of online ticket sales were made up of the discounted tickets.
“We’re commissioned to promote the event and get the word out to the campus,” Palka said. “We approached [Crowder] with this idea to offer a student to attract a larger audience and to give students an opportunity to go and to be able to afford the ticket."
Students must have their student ID at the gate in order for the ticket to be valid.
