BSU sexual health: Thumbs up

Grades were distributed recently to colleges and universities across the country, and Ball State University earned a 2.91 grade point average when it comes to sexual health, according to a study released by Trojan Brand Condoms. The 2007 Sexual Health Report Card evaluated 139 schools across the country.



Little treasures

Where can you find a page from the Gutenberg Bible, a children's book written by Nazis and David Letterman's yearbook picture? Try the Archives and Special Collections department of Bracken Library. Those are just a few of the resources this department makes available to Ball State University students and others who are interested in rare or historical materials, said John Straw, director of the Archives and Special Collections Research Center.


MEN'S TENNIS: Cardinals ready for tournament

After beginning the season with a win in the Ball State University Tennis Invitational last weekend, the Cardinals will attempt to continue their success in the Milwaukee Classic today. The Milwaukee Classic will consist of singles and doubles events, and a point system will determine placing.


Career fair reaches attendance goal

Crowded tables, an abundance of information pamphlets and plenty of opportunities gave career-seeking students what they were asking for at Ball State University's Career Fair. The Career Fair on Wednesday brought in 164 organizations and hundreds more students.

FOOTBALL: Damon's to show BSU game

Fans now have multiple options on where to watch the pay-per-view Ball State University football game against the University of Nebraska Saturday. Damon's Grill will televise the game Saturday and there will be no cover charge, manager Ben Dailey said. "If we get the word out, we expect to have a good crowd," Dailey said.


Officer charged on two offenses

Muncie police officer Jason Lyons was charged with two class A misdemeanors for his involvement with speeding on city and campus streets. Delaware County Prosecutor Mike McKinney said Lyons was charged for reckless driving and interfering with reporting a crime.


Students participate in volunteer orientation

Ball State University student volunteers play an important role in the local American Red Cross chapter, Kay Renoe, director of volunteer youth and community programs, said. The Hoosier Heartland chapter of the American Red Cross hosted a volunteer orientation for Ball State students Tuesday and Wednesday.

Program ranks top 25 in US

The Ball State University Entrepreneur Center is ranked toe-to-toe with 24 other top entrepreneurship programs in the nation, according to Fortune's Small Business magazine. Larry Cox, director of Midwest Entrepreneurial Education Center, said that it was great to be recognized nationally.


BSU alumnus arrested after towing dispute

A Ball State University alumnus and award-winning Daily News cartoonist was released from Delaware County jail on a $2,500 bond following a dispute about a towed vehicle, according to jail officials. According to police reports, Mohammad Hammond, 23, was arrested on suspicion of battery about 11 p.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Cards enter MAC play with 11 straight losses

The Mid-American Conference portion of the schedule is upon the Ball State women's volleyball team. The Cardinals play Central Michigan tonight, the first of 16 MAC matches that will determine the MAC Champion.
