What are you supposed to do when you have writer's block? I have no doubt every collegian in America comes across writer's block at some point or another. Whether it's choosing a topic for a paper, trying to write a newspaper story or even choosing a few well-phrased insults in a "no, I DON'T want you back" letter to an ex-girlfriend, eventually you hit a wall where you can't think of anything to say.
Last week, I wrote: "Essentially, [the No Child Left Behind act] punishes schools whose improvement is substandard by removing funding and eventually shutting them down." Apparently, I am told, this is incorrect; my understanding of the act was flawed when I wrote the column.

Junior Amanda Degard awoke one day this summer to her mother's explanation that her Rottweiler, Bandit, had died. "We had him sleep in the basement ... My mother and I went to the basement, and he was in fact dead," she said. If you're anything like me, Thanksgiving brings up mixed feelings. There are those warm fuzzy ones of curling up in front of the TV after gorging yourself on all of that delicious food. Maybe you associate Thanksgiving with the fabulous shopping (for the record, I always sleep in that Friday) that comes after it.
