MEN'S BASKETBALL: Free Agent Wells could take game overseas

Bonzi Wells has played for five NBA teams throughout his 10-year professional career. There is now a chance of the Mid-American Conference's all-time leading scorer taking his game overseas. Publicist Illana Nunn of BDA Sports, who represents Wells, said Monday that Wells is surveying offers from international basketball organizations.



BEWILDERED SOCIETY: Village needs strong leaders to take charge

Student wins local airport logo contest

The Delaware County Airport can sport a new logo thanks to a Ball State University student. According to a press release, senior Visual Communications major Samantha McIntire won the design contest for the airport out of a pool of 165 entries. McIntire was awarded with the $500 contest prize at the Airport Authority Board meeting Tuesday.


Collins says couldn't avoid tonight's schedule conflict

When athletics director Tom Collins signed a contract last year agreeing to a men's basketball road game against Butler University, he had no idea of the scheduling conflict that would develop. FOOTBALL: No. 17 Ball State remains undefeated

The No. 17 Ball State University football team defeated Central Michigan University 31-24 tonight in Mount Pleasant, Mich. With the win, the Cardinals (11-0 Mid-American Conference) remain one of five undefeated teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision. In addition, if Ball State beats Western Michigan next week, the Cardinals will advance to the MAC Championship game.



Fire official worried about alarms

A Muncie Fire Department commander expressed concern about the evacuation of LaFollette Complex because the fire alarm had to be manually pulled Wednesday, but Ball State University officials said the evacuation went smoothly and there is no reason to update the alarm system.


Proposal would make instructor evals mandatory at end of courses

The Student Government Association proposed legislation that would give students the chance to find out more about their professors before they sign up for classes. Vice President Carrie Cozad said the legislation, which would implement mandatory, online professor evaluations, must pass through University Senate before it can be approved by the president and the Board of Trustees.


FOOTBALL: Cards, Chippewas could play game in snow

The No. 17 Ball State University football team could face something tonight it has not dealt with all season: snow. There is a 30 percent chance of snow fall, according to noaa.gov, when Ball State and Central Michigan University begin their game at 7 p.m.


Cultures unite at forum

A panel of students with different cultural backgrounds gave their opinions on issues related to multiculturalism presented on the American society at a multicultural forum held at Pruis Hall Tuesday night. About 90 students attended the forum hosted by Student Government Association.

In this week's Associated Press Poll, Ball State was ranked No. 14 with 714 votes and Central Michigan was listed No. 29 with 13 votes. Everything they did, every place they went, every second last offseason, Ball State University's football players had two words etched in their minds. Central Michigan. The Cardinals' 58-38 loss to the Chippewas last year left a bitter taste. It pushed the players in the weight room.


Firefighters to 'burn down' Scheidler

After Wednesday's fire at LaFollette Complex, fire is on the mind of many students. Muncie Fire Department will have "Burning Down the House," a mock smoke-out of Scheidler apartment 129 at 1 p.m. today. Three fire trucks will be there and six firefighters will teach students how to escape from a smoky apartment during a fire.

Butler won that inaugural game, and the two schools have battled each other 98 times since.


WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Cards defeat Eastern Michigan to advance to MAC quarterfinals

The Ball State University women's volleyball team defeated Eastern Michigan University 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-19) in Tuesday night's Mid-American Conference Tournament opening round game at Worthen Arena. The No. 7 seed Cardinals advanced to play No. 2 seed Ohio University - who received a first round bye - in the MAC Tournament Quarterfinals.


WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: 1 down, 3 to go for MAC title

The Ball State University women's volleyball team was able to take advantage of home court advantage in the opening round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament by defeating Eastern Michigan University 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-19) Tuesday night at Worthen Arena.


Students often not prepared for class

Studying and preparing for class is not on many students' lists of things to do, according to a national survey. The National Survey of Student Engagement reported Ball State University students spend less time preparing for class than other Midwest public universities but experience a more beneficial campus learning environment.


Twister tourney raises almost $1,000

Eighties music rocked Irving Gym Friday night during Kappa Delta sorority's annual Twister Tournament. Kappa Delta member Sarah Pine said about 100 players and spectators attended the event. "There were six boards, with three teams of four on each board," Pine said.


PRSSA taking donations for baby drive

Ball State University's Public Relations Student Society of America is having an "All Things Baby Drive" through Nov. 21. PRSSA fund-raising chair Ashley Cashen said Christian Ministries Food Pantry has a shortage of important supplies such as diapers and baby wipes.
