Wapahani girls, boys basketball make history in Delaware County Championship

“Jobs not done,” said junior Isaac Andrews after his team, Wapahani, defeated Delta in the quarterfinal round of the Delaware County high school basketball tournament Jan. 13. The Wapahani girls squad also made the championship on their side of the county tournament. After the boys team won, their head coach, Matt Luce, wanted to see history. The Raiders had never had both teams win the championship in the same year. Until now.

Need a little help keeping your New Year’s resolutions? Consider making it a habit with these five tips.

New Year’s resolutions are supposed to correlate with the renewal of the year and its seasonal cycle; new beginnings are the cue for a person to grow and change. However, despite people’s best intentions, a study performed by the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health found that about two-thirds of people in the U.K. and Australia gave up on their New Year’s resolutions within the first month of 2021.

OPINION: Ball State has had the same logo since 1990; it's time for an update to the Cardinals identity

Originally named the Hoosieroons, the then-named Indiana State Normal School, Eastern Division changed its athletic identity to the Cardinals in 1927. Since then, the identity of Ball State’s athletic teams have evolved, culminating with the current athletic logo used since 1989, per a previous Daily News article. The logo replaced a logo that had been used for over 30 years, per Chris Creamer’s Sports Logo Website. This logo, affectionately called “Dancing Charlie,” was the symbol of Ball State athletics as the Cardinals became a Division I school in football and a mid-major powerhouse in men’s basketball.

Three takeaways from the Ball State's loss against Toledo

Turnovers, rebounds and points in the paint were downfalls of the Ball States Women’s Basketball team on the road against Toledo. Cardinals winning streak snapped as they pick up first conference loss

Poor passing. Poor court awareness. Bad shot selection. Miscommunications. “What are you doing? What are you doing?” rang on the court and could be heard through the broadcast. Head Coach Michael Lewis was at a loss for words on the sideline in Athens, Ohio. In what was a physical game, which is synonymous with Mid-American Conference (MAC) play, Ball State (11-5, 2-1 MAC) fell to Ohio (9-7, 1-2 MAC).
