Fans of the animated series Spongebob Squarepants will have something to look forward to during the halftime show of Superbowl LIII.

According to a now removed Facebook post from Rodger Bumpass, who voices Squidward in the show, the halftime performance will feature, at least in some aspect, the “Sweet Victory” performance from Spongebob.

To further these reports, Jamal Williams, a reporter from Chattanooga, TN was able to capture an image of Spongebob during a rehearsal inside the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the game and the eventual half time show will play out.

The song, which was performed at the fictional Superbowl in the show, the Bubble Bowl, has gained a cult following and is widely regarded to be among the greatest moments of the series.

The Change.org petition "Have 'Sweet Victory' Performed at the Super Bowl" was started shortly after Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of Spongebob, passed away of ALS in November 2018. Since then, the petition has garnered 1.2 million signatures.
