The Ball State Student Government Association (SGA) began with presentations to elect a new president pro tempore.

Parliamentarian Brenna Large and Sen. Cody York of the At-Large Caucus were both previously nominated for the role, and after presentations and discussions, Parliamentarian Large was voted in as the new president pro-tempore.

Large passed with the majority.

“She's honestly made SGA a much more comfortable and user-friendly experience for me as a new senator, and that's just the kind of person who shows up for others, and she regularly takes on responsibilities and fills roles when needed,” Sen. Shaina Miller of the At-Large Caucus said. “Overall, I think she's just a really star candidate, and I think that she would do amazingly in the role”

President Tina Nguyen gave a presentation on the upcoming One Ball State Day, which will take place on April 5 at the Scramble Light and John R. Emens College-Community Auditorium plaza.

“This is a day to really bring up campus morale and fundraise for the university,” Nguyen said.

A budget request for $200 was given by the Governmental Relations Committee for ten dozen donuts and supplies for their event in collaboration with both the Muncie and University Police Departments.

The event features a squad car and K-9 officers, as well as yard games and free donuts.

The request passed with the majority.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee also presented a budget request for their tabling event, requesting $1,400 for various pride-themed buttons.

 The request passed unanimously.

Nguyen, in her executive report, informed the senate the budget allowed for them to decal two Charlie’s Charter vans, which will make their debut on campus soon.

The first piece of unfinished business, student amendment 13:22-23 would remove the requirement of fifty student signatures when creating senate resolutions (SR).

The amendment failed 4-18 with one abstention.

SR 02:22-23 would provide urinal dividers in campus restrooms that do not currently have them.

The resolution passed on a 23-0 vote. The resolution will be presented to University Senate and voted on.
