Ball State's Welcome Week 2021 schedule

Ball State will host a number of Welcome Week events Aug. 23–28, including food at the Scramble Light, informative sessions on Fraternity and Sorority Life, social activities and more.

According to Ball State’s website, the events scheduled are as follows:

Aug. 23

Miller College of Business Fall Kickoff

10 a.m., Miller College of Business Building

The Miller College of Business (MCOB) will welcome students to celebrate the start of the fall semester within individual academic departments, sponsored by the undergraduate programs office. Students can pick up MCOB spirit gear, free food and connect with faculty members.

Scramble Snacks

11 a.m., Scramble Light

The University Program Board will hand out snacks and treats during the first day of classes.

Asian Student Union (ASU) Welcome Back

5 p.m., L.A. Pittenger Student Center lawn

The Asian Student Union will welcome students back to campus and network with new freshmen to spread awareness about the organization.

Aug. 24

Leadership and Long-johns

10 a.m., Scramble Light

Members of various leadership programs on campus will be handing out free donuts between classes and offering resources to learn more about their programs.

Crushing it at College

10 a.m., Zoom

The Office of Student Life will provide information and skills related to common college issues and offer practical tips to learn time management, communication and conflict management strategies, as well as how to balance responsibilities and be successful.

Fraternity and Sorority Life 101

4 p.m., Student Center Cardinal Halls A and B

Members of the Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) community will speak to prospective recruits, discussing different expectations and requirements, how to join and more. The informative session will also have representatives from each of the councils present to answer questions and discuss joining options.

Black Student Association (BSA) Block Party

4 p.m., University Green

The Black Student Association will host a welcome back block party including a live DJ, food and drinks, vendors, games and more.

University Program Board (UPB) Callout Party

8 p.m., Cardinal Lanes in the Student Center

The University Program Board (UPB) will be recruiting new members to one of the largest student-run organizations on campus. Current members will provide food and information about the club, and everyone attending will have the opportunity to join a game of bowling.

Aug. 25

Meet the FSL Community

4 p.m., University Green

Social fraternities and sororities will host a meet and greet with all chapters and councils present for potential recruits. Current FSL members will provide more information about membership options and offer instructions on how to register for the recruitment process.

Latinx Student Union (LSU) Welcome Back

5 p.m., Student Center Multipurpose Ballroom

The Latinx Student Union will welcome members and new students back to campus and network with students to provide more information about the organization.

Aug. 26

Fraternity and Sorority Life 101

4 p.m., Student Center Cardinal Halls A and B

Members of the Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) community will speak to prospective recruits, discussing different expectations and requirements, how to join and more. Spectrum Tie-Dye Event

5 p.m., Student Center lawn

Spectrum will network with new students and offer them an LGBTQ+ safe space in the organization. Participants in the event should bring their own shirts to tie-dye or be one of the first to arrive for a complementary Spectrum T-shirt.

Open Mic Night

8 p.m., Student Center Tally

UPB will host an open mic night with free drinks and snacks Thursday. Musicians, comedians and all talented performers are welcome to register at the event. All performers should bring their own equipment for music needs.

Aug. 27

Multicultural Center Welcome Celebration

3 p.m., Multicultural Center

The Welcome Celebration is an information fair that provides an opportunity to connect with student and community organizations focused on identity and culture. Students can celebrate the start of the academic year and enjoy free food and music.

Quad Bash

6 p.m., Quad lawn

The Quad Bash will offer games, live music and free food for students to connect with each other. Once the sky darkens, Friday Night Filmworks will screen In The Heights outside.

Aug. 28

Back to School Bash

2 p.m., University Green

The Ball State University Dance Marathon (BSUDM) will offer information on its organization, as well as games, food and prizes to win. There will also be merchandise available for purchase and an opportunity to meet the BSUDM executive board. The event will benefit patients in the Riley Hospital for Children.

Late Night Assemble

9 p.m., Student Center

Late Nate will host a Marvel Universe-themed celebration with an aerial show, DIY perler bead keychains, madripoor disco, starlord karaoke, free pizza, Marvel game shows, a Bifrost Slip N Slide and more.
