Before returning to campus for the spring 2021 semester, Ball State University students must provide a COVID-19 test result obtained within a week of moving back to campus. The portal to submit test results opened Jan. 8, 2021 and was shared with students via email.
On-campus students living in the residence halls should be tested Jan. 8 at the earliest if they plan to return to residence halls on Jan. 15. Students living off campus who are enrolled in in-person courses should be tested between Jan. 12 and Jan. 18 before classes begin.
Here is a list of places in Muncie to get tested for COVID-19:
Meridian Health Services: 240 N. Tillotson Ave, Muncie, IN 47304
Meridian Health Services (MHS) is a clinic at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital where patients have to schedule a screening with a health professional to determine if they should be tested or not. MHS offers a standard lab test, with results coming in three to seven days, a rapid test with results in 15 minutes, as well as an antibodies test. MHS provides walk-in services, but patients can stay in their car to receive tests if they are showing more serious symptoms.
MedExpress Urgent Care: 1313 W. McGalliard Rd, Muncie, IN 47303
MedExpress Urgent Care does not require patients to make an appointment before getting tested for COVID-19. MedExpress offers both standard lab tests and rapid tests for patients, and accepts most forms of insurance as payment. Patients can also schedule a virtual visit to determine their testing appointment before going to MedExpress.
Indiana State Department of Health Testing Site: 401 N. Country Club Rd, Muncie, IN 47303
The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) has 277 drive-thru testing sites throughout the state that are free for Indiana residents. ISDH offers tests to anyone older than two and limits tests to one per vehicle. Patients can make appointments online or walk-in. Results will be sent to patients via email or text message.
IU Health Muncie Remote Specimen Collection: 2401 W. University Ave, Muncie, IN 47303
IU Health Muncie Remote Specimen Collection requires patients to make an appointment ahead of time and they have to be symptomatic prior to the appointment. Drive-thru testing is also available. IU Health accepts most forms of insurance as payment. A standard COVID-19 lab test will be administered, and patients can find their results online.
Worthen Arena: 1699 W. Bethel Ave, Muncie, IN 47304
Open Door Health Services resumed COVID-19 testing for students Jan. 4. Worthen Arena is open for testing Jan. 13-16 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Students should bring their Ball State ID and insurance card if they have one. Ball State announced via social media on Jan. 13 that appointments will be necessary. Students should be asymptomatic and can book an appointment here. If patients are symptomatic, they can get tested at IU Health listed above. Worthen Arena will also be open Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays Jan. 20 through May 6, 2021 for coronavirus testing. Test results will be available in two to five days.

Ball State students need to self-quarantine at home between their testing date and the date they return to campus. They will not be able to return to campus until test results are submitted. If students receive an inconclusive test result, they should get tested again.
Students with negative test results must wait for university administrators to confirm their test result is accepted. Students with positive test results will be provided with instructions to isolate for 10 days after symptoms begin and will be welcomed back to campus after being fever free for 24 hours.
Students who reported a positive COVID-19 test result to the university during the fall 2020 semester on or after Oct. 17, 2020 meet the 90-days exception and do not have to submit a test result before the spring 2021 semester begins.
