Chances are, you’ve checked out Ball State’s Career Center at least once or twice. Maybe it was for class purposes, grabbing a referral for an on-campus job, or practicing for a scholarship or job interview.

Even during this pandemic, the Career Center wants you to know they’re available to help you with your professional development. The following services have been moved to online format so that YOU can still end this school year on a high note and have access to all the professional guidance you may need.

The Career Center is committed to providing virtual services during the COVID-19. The following services arenowin online formats:

1. Career Coaching

A career coach can help you make connections in your preferred career field, help determine what careers may be a good fit based on your personality, help build your skill set, and develop a strong portfolio and application. Career coaching appointments can be scheduled through Cardinal Career Link. Programming, such as presentations and group events, can be delivered via WebEx. The Career Center has also created a number of alternative experiences in lieu of a presentation.

2. Internship and Job Searches

Students have always been able to search for employment opportunities through Cardinal Career Link, and the team at the Career Center is dedicated to updating this list daily. You can also set up job alerts to notify you when a new job is posted in your career field.

You can also set up a profile on Cardinal Career Link so you’ll be shown jobs and internships that match with your interests, skill set and majors.

3. Referrals

When students are applying to on-campus jobs, they need referral numbers. Career Center employees are now reviewing job descriptions with students via phone or email. However, it is still the responsibility of the student to contact the department or office hiring for the position to set up an interview.

Hiring documents can be submitted online, and students needing to complete I9 paperwork for employment can schedule an appointment with Maija Thompson in the Career Center. Virtual appointments will be held via Webex or Zoom.

Don’t let this pandemic hold you back from applying to your dream job—enlist the help of the Career Center, and you’ll set yourself up for success in any path you choose to take!
