About five minutes from Ball State’s campus, Minnetrista offers several exhibits, plays and programs for the Muncie community to participate in and enjoy. Here are the events Minnestrista will offer throughout September:
Flags of Honor
Sept. 4-11
Partnering with the Muncie Exchange Club, a service organization, Minnestrista will hold its annual “Flags of Honor.” More than a thousand flags will be placed throughout Minnetrista’s front lawn beside the White River Greenway. These flags will honor local veterans, current service personnel and those who have died during their military service. Muncie community members can sponsor a flag for $30.
Farmers Market at Minnetrista
8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sept 7, 14, 21, 28
Outside Minnetrista’s Orchard Shop every Saturday, local vendors will sell plants, hand-crafted items, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Businesses interested in selling at the farmers market can reserve a table for $130 for the rest of the season.
Glass Workshops: Fused Glass Pendants and Earrings
6-9 p.m. Sept. 12
The Fused Glass Pendants and Earrings workshop is open to everyone no matter their experience level and offers a large range of tools to fashion unique creations. Hosted by local glass professionals, this particular glass workshop costs $45 and has a registration deadline of Sept. 10.
Twilight on the Boulevard
7-10 p.m. Sept. 20
Minnetrista will host “Twilight on the Boulevard,” a benefit event which will include the tasty treats from Vera Mae’s, Amazing Joe’s Grill, The Neely House, Twin Archer Brewpub, Pete’s Bar & Grill and Minnetrista catering. Not only will there be food, but live music will also fill the Boulevard of Minnestra from the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra, Clay & the Chameleons and The Stampede String Band. As guests walk around the evening event, they can also visit any of the activity booths lined along the boulevard.
Minnetrista Theatre Preserves Presents: “In My Hands, In My Heart”
6-7 p.m. Sept. 28
The Minnetrista Theatre Preserves is putting on their rendition of “In My Hands, In My Heart.” The production shares the story of two men who stumble across a Ku Klux Klan crest. With the help of creative storytelling, “In My Hands, In My Heart” explores the challenges of the time period and helps to paint the picture of those who live different lives than what most consider normal.

Graduate and social media assistant, and former DOMA intern and guard, Taylor Hamblin spent the past two years working at the museum surrounded with possibilities to further her career while at Ball State.
