This weekend, Cardinal Con, an event hosted by Ball State’s Japanese Animation Society, will be held in the Whitinger Business Building on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The convention is going to be a celebration of all things anime, comics, and gaming. Several groups will be hosting activities and panels. Groups like the Pokémon Trainers Union, Cardinal Esports, and Cartoonists Collaborative will be participating in the event along with many other campus organizations. There will also be a collection of artists displaying and selling their original works at the convention.

The event is open to anyone interested in learning more about Japanese animation, popular culture, the Japanese Animation Society or any of the other groups that will be hosting activities. One $5 ticket will grant attendees access to both days of the convention and all of the events held within.

The Japanese Animation Society offers more than just conventions though.

In an interview with Rachel Clark, the vice president of Japanese Animation Society, she said that Cardinal Con offers students "a chance to meet other students who like anime..."

Japanese Animation Society Webmaster Noah Smith, followed that up, saying, "We allow students who do have that interest in anime sort of have a safe and comfortable place where they can share this thing that they are very passionate about with other people."

Students who are interested in joining the Japanese Animation Society can find the group on Facebook, Benny Link and can send an email to the organization at jas@bsu.edu. Otherwise, meetings are held every Sunday at 6:00 p.m. in the Student Center in room 310.
