Flooding and cold winds are possible Thursday night through Friday morning throughout much of central Indiana, including Muncie.
National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flood watch Feb. 7 that remains in effect until 1 a.m. Friday and a wind advisory, sustained winds of 30 mph or wind gusts of 45 mph, in effect until 7 a.m. Friday.
Rain is beginning to taper off across Central Indiana this afternoon as a cold front passes across the area. However, flooding will remain a threat this evening as earlier rains was causing ongoing flooding, the NWS website states.
Winds this strong means unsecured outdoor items will be easily blown about and possibly damaged. The website also states driving may be difficult particularly for high profile vehicles.
River flooding is expected and standing water in fields and along some area roads will occur resulting in driving difficulties and road closures. NWS warns drivers to be prepared to turn around in case a warning is issued and to never drive a vehicle into floodwaters.
These warnings come after a flash flood warning was issued earlier Thursday in effect until 5:15 p.m.
