Makris leads men’s golf heading into final round at Crooked Stick

Ball State men's golf heads into today’s final round at the Crooked Stick Invitational needing a big turnaround. The Cardinals currently sit ninth of 13 teams shooting 15 over par, 23 shots behind leader Purdue, through two rounds.

Senior Michael Makris leads the charge for Ball State, sitting tied for 13th on the individual leaderboard. Makris recorded an even par score of 144 for two rounds and birdied nine times in his two rounds, including in three of his first five holes. 

Makris sits five shots back of the individual leaders, Purdue’s Timmy Hildebrand and Indiana’s Evan Yakubov.

Freshman Jack Cunningham is the second Cardinal on the leaderboard, sitting tied for 34th, shooting four shots over par. Junior Timothy Wiseman (+6), seniors Michael VanDeventer (+7) and Johnny Watts (+8) wrap up the scoring for Ball State after two rounds of play.

The Cardinals tee off their final round in the Crooked Stick Invitational today at 9 a.m. Ball State starts off the 10th tee, playing with South Carolina and Indiana.
