Len Wein, the Co-creator of Wolverine and renowned comic book writer, died Sunday of an unknown cause according to Marvel.
Hailing from New York, Wein’s dream was to be a comic book illustrator, but he settled on becoming a writer.
“By 1975, he’d contributed to such titles as AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, DEFENDERS, FANTASTIC FOUR, INCREDIBLE HULK, POWER MAN, STRANGE TALES, and WEREWOLF BY NIGHT,” according to Marvel’s website.
Hugh Jackman tweeted on Sunday, “Blessed to have known Len Wein. I first met him in 2008. I told him – from his heart, mind & hands came the greatest character in comics.”
The ComicPop YouTube Channel posted a short video stating, “…to his loved ones and colleagues he was a treasured friend and trusted mentor…”
In creating a comic book character that resulted in nine films with over $1 billion in revenue, the world has truthfully lost one of its greatest storytellers. Wolverine simply won’t be the same without one of its creators.
