With a shared goal to enhance the learning and athletic experience of Delaware County's youth, the Ball State athletic department and the YMCA of Muncie have teamed up to better the community.
The unique community partnership was created to achieve the goal and enhance community involvement.
Ball State Athletics will support the YMCA's youth football and basketball programs via sponsorships. Those organizations will now be called "Junior Cardinals," with a logo shown on participants' shirts. Ball State Athletics will also be providing the YMCA with basketballs and footballs.
Ball State coaches have also agreed to take part in coaching clinics, where they will contribute to the education of youths alongside YMCA coaches. They will be joined by Ball State student-athletes, who will interact with YMCA families at various events.
In return, the YMCA will support Ball State Athletics by providing promotional opportunities, signage on site, purchasing tickets and pushing members toward the Cardinal Kids Club and "Junior Cardinals."
The organizations plan to put announcements on their respective web sites and social media accounts concerning the partnership.
