The Student Government Association will be hosting a town hall meeting to hear from students Aug. 31 at 5:10 p.m. in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center, Room 301-302.

This town hall meeting is for the purpose of listening and gathering information from Ball State students about any issues, concerns or ideas they want to bring to the attention of SGA, according to a press release. SGA will use this information to determine what to work on throughout the year.

“SGA has the duty to serve the student body, to listen to all concerns, and take action wherever we can,” SGA President James Wells said in the press release. “We want to start off the year knowing what are the concerns and issues around campus, so we can conduct research into as many as we possibly can. From there, hopefully, we can bring some resolution to those issues.”

Wells said some of the issues he predicts to be brought up by students include transparency with the university, diversity within recruiting students and staff, transgender bathroom access as well as student tuition and financial aid.

For students who are unable to attend the town hall meeting in person, SGA will be livestreaming the event. SGA will gather information from those who comment on the livestream; however, they will not be responding to comments at the event.
