Warner Bros. has been paying around "tens of millions" of dollars in order to reshoot DC's latest film, Suicide Squad, to make it have a more light-hearted and humorous tone. An anonymous source has told Birth, Movies, Death reporter Devin Faraci that the film’s recent trailer was a little more misleading than intended.
“A couple of weeks ago I spoke with an excellent source who told me something surprising: the trailer for Suicide Squad, the one with the Queen song, did not represent the film as it then existed. 'Every joke in the movie is in that trailer,' this source told me,” claimed Faraci. Warner Bros. has seen the positive reception to the trailer, which is supposedly the primary reason for the reshoots.
However, with the recent critical treatment of Batman v. Superman, some theorize that the reshoots are being done to combat the serious tone that the DC Extended Universe has set up for itself. Despite being the fourth biggest movie opening of all time, many fans criticized its serious mentality and inability to have fun. With the smash success of Deadpool, DC could be chasing after trends.
