Men’s volleyball traveled to the east coast and took a three-set sweep against New Jersey Institute of Technology. After a close first two sets, the Cardinals took control with a 25-15 final set victory, preserving the victory.

Worthen Arena played host to two basketball games on Saturday, the first of which was the men’s team against the Mid-American Conference leading Akron. While the Cardinals brought the lead to within 3, they eventually fell to the Zips, 64-73.

Women’s basketball played directly after the men in a battle of MAC division leaders, Ball State and Ohio. A game that had 47 fouls (four technical) lead to a 1-point victory in favor of the Bobcats, 68-67. Ball State is now 0-2 against Ohio on the season after dropping its first home game on Saturday.

The men’s tennis team traveled to East Lansing, Mich., to take on Detroit-Mercy and Michigan State. After falling 4-3 to the Spartans, the Cardinals were able to bounce back with a 5-2 victory over Detroit-Mercy. Ball State will travel to Bloomington, Ind., on Feb. 5 to take on in-state rival Indiana University.

In day two of east coast action for men’s volleyball, the team went to Fairfax, Va., to take on George Mason. After dropping the first two sets, Ball State was able to bounce back with a 3-2 comeback victory as it moved to 5-3 on the season. On Feb. 4, the team will travel to McKendree and then to Ohio State on Feb. 6. Tip-off for each game is scheduled at 7 p.m.
