Women's swimming, diving sign 6 National Letters of Intent

Six National Letters of Intent have been signed on the women's swimming and diving teams.

Head coach Kristy Castillo announced the signing of the six high school seniors who will join the Cardinals in the 2016-17 season.

Sophie Bader specialized in the 100 fly (56.68) and 200 IM (2:07.61) at Jay County High School. Current captain holding a 4.076 GPA, Bader has been a state qualifier in four events over the last three years and has set seven school records. 

With her assistance, Jay County won its first sectional swim title for the first time in over 40 years.

Rachel Bertram out of Buffalo has the Minnesota Section 8AA diving record in one-meter, 11-dive with her 490.20 mark. Coupled with her career high mark of 294.25 in the six-dive one-meter event, she was named the Section 8AA diver of the year in both 2014 and 2015. She was Buffalo's MVP Diver three consecutive seasons as well as back to back All-State honors.

Cassidy Blackwin from Ontario, Canada specializes in the 200 and 500 freestyle and has recorded career personal best times of 1:55.74 and 5:08.38, respectively. Blackwin has been a three-time state qualifier placing second overall in both her freshman and sophomore years.

The seven-time provincial champion has been a Canadian Senior National Qualifier along with a two-time National Age Group Silver Medalist.

Elizabeth Graham is a long distance swimmer, recording times of 5:02.25 in the 500 free, 10:15.88 in the 1000 free, and 17:04.84 in the 1650 free. Over the course of her career with Academy Bullets, Graham has been an eight-time Senior State qualifier, six-time Junior National qualifier, four-time National Club Swimming Association Champs Meet qualifier, in addition to qualifying for Central Zones Open Water competition.

Rachel Smallwood is a diver who specializes in one and three meter diving. Her mark of 287.15 in one-meter six-dive competition is a Center Grove High School school record along with her three seasons as a Sectional Champion. At the club level, Smallwood was a regional competitor, posting scores of 368.25 and 346.80 in one- and three-meter diving action, respectively.

Anne Vormohr is another multi-talented sprint swimmer that specializes in the backstroke and freestyle. Her personal best times are 55.79 in the 100 back, 23.88 in the 50 free, 52.28 in the 100 free, 25.99 in the 50 back, 2:04.58 in the 200 back and 2:11.37 in the 200 IM. Vormohr has set three individual and relay school records, and has been a two time state medalist in the 100 backstroke finishing fifth overall. Vormohr's older sister Cori Vormohr swam for Ball State from 2009-12.
