Millennials and Culture

Recently, the news has been filled with stories of discrimination and prejudice happening around the country. After events at The University of Missouri, and the discrimination other minorities due to religion, race or appearance, a conversation about minorities in America is taking place.

This week, Ball Bearings takes a closer look at the way Millennials view race, culture, and tradition. One black student was denied from attending a college party because of her race. A Muslim doctoral student was told he should “go back to his country.” Middle Eastern students have been labeled terrorists. Latino students and others discuss cultural appropriation.

We talked to individuals about cultural appropriation. We heard stories of white privilege. We photographed the different cultural foods and activities at The Amazing Taste. After events at the University of Missouri, we talked about what it’s like to be a black student at a university filled with predominantly white students.
