Ball State football wide receiver sophomore Corey Lacanaria was arrested by Muncie police officers on Oct. 31 after a hit-and-run accident. He was preliminarily charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. He was released from the Delaware County jail at 10 a.m. Nov. 1 after posting a $5,500 bond.

Ball State student Eric Quaintance, 23, was also arrested late Saturday night and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to an MPD police report. MPD Officer Jason Wentz observed Quaintance’s 2004 Lexus driving erratically near the intersection of W. North Street and N. Light Street.

Quaintance said he had been at a drag show at a local music venue and said he drank alcoholic beverages before driving, Wentz said. Quaintance failed three sobriety tests administered by Wentz at the scene, and his blood alcohol content was .166 on a preliminary Breathalyzer test. He was transported to the Delaware County Jail.

Early on Nov. 1, Tyson Williams, 19, was arrested by Ball State University Police. His was the only arrest by UPD for the weekend. Williams, who is not a Ball State student, was stopped by officers after appearing intoxicated.

Williams was charged with illegal possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of paraphernalia.

UPD also assisted Indiana Excise Police with one public intoxication citation, but there is no confirmation of how many citations or arrests were made by Excise Police.
