Karen Adkins will now serve as interim director of campus dining services after Jon Lewis, the previous director of dining services, died in early October.

Adkins began her Ball State career in 1986 as a supervisor in dining. Since then, she has progressed through managerial positions.
Adkins served as assistant director of personnel and administration for 14 years.
"We are very fortunate to have [Adkins'] deep knowledge and experience with BSU's dining operation,” said Leisa Julian, associate vice president for business and auxiliary services, in an email to the university. “She is able to immediately step in and provide steady leadership and guidance during this difficult time of transition after the passing of our valued colleague, Jon Lewis, and I am grateful for her willingness to do so."
This past January, Adkins stepped into the position of director of conference services and will continue her duties in that role as she serves as the interim director of dining as well.
