The Cardinals are 12-9 on the season.
"This was a great team effort and a great win,” head coach Bill Richards said in a statement. “Western Michigan has had a very good year. They were 17-5 coming into this match. We had solid doubles, and strong play at the top of the lineup carried us again today."
Ball State started the match by taking the doubles point. The No. 1 pair of senior Patrick Elliott and sophomore Lucas Andersen picked up a 6-3 win.
Senior Ray Leonard and freshman Colin Rigney defeated Jefta Kecic and Jimmy Beckwith at the No. 2 position.
In singles play, the Cardinals took four of the six matches.
Leonard, Andersen and Elliott earned victories at the first three spots. Sophomore Patrick Downs was the other winner with a 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 victory at No. 6 singles.
Ball State will return to action on April 17 at Buffalo before traveling to Binghamton for its regular-season finale.
