Emily Dabkowski - 3-4, 3 RBIs, 2 runs

Shelbie Scamihorn - 2-3, 1 home run, 4 RBIs

The Cardinals hit four home runs in the game and scored in every inning against the Hoosiers to improve to 25-21 on the season.

"I have great confidence in the team," head coach Tyra Perry said. "And if we can keep playing and hitting like we did today, we can create some space at the top of the conference."

Indiana came out firing in the top of the first, putting up five runs.

The Cardinals answered with four runs in the bottom half, however, coming from two home runs. The first was a solo shot by shortstop Selena Reyna, her seventh of the season. Sophomore Shelbie Scamihorn added her first of the season.

Ball State didn't slow down in the second, scoring five more runs on five hits to take a 9-5 lead.

After the Hoosiers added a run in the third, the Cardinals answered with three more for a 12-6 lead. Junior Emily Dabkowski hit her 12th homer of the season.

Ball State went up 13-6 in the fourth after a fielding error allowed Julia Bailey to score from second.

The Hoosiers, who were a run away from the mercy rule, looked to extend the game with three runs in the top of the fifth.

Ball State scored two runs in the first three batters, and loaded the bases for Reyna. She responded with a walk-off grand slam to end the game.

"[Reyna] was our offensive leader today, she was aggressive at the plate each time." Perry said. "It was kind of like the icing on the cake for her to end the game with that grand slam. She earned it after her performance."

Overall, Ball State tallied 20 hits on the day with six players getting multiple hits.

Reyna and Dabkowski were both 3-4 on the day. Reyna finished with five RBIs, while Dabkowski was a triple short of the cycle at game's end.

Senior Hanne Stuedemann finished a perfect 4-4 in the game.

Freshman Carolyn Wilmes got the win on the mound, allowing 12 hits and seven earned in five innings. She also had two strikeouts.

Ball State will look to carry its momentum into its next game on the road at Ohio (14-24; 6-6 MAC). The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m.
