Ball State drops matches to Wisconsin-Green Bay and Illinois

The Ball State men's tennis team fell twice Jan. 24 in Champaign, Ill., defeated by Wisconsin-Green Bay 5-2 and Illinois 7-0.

Ball State is now 1-2 on the season.

The Cardinals earned two doubles points against the Phoenix in the first match of the day. Senior Patrick Elliott and partner Lucas Andersen defeated Michael Tenzer and Howard Scott at No. 1. Senior Ray Leonard paired with sophomore Andrew Stutz at No. 2 doubles to give the Cardinals their second win.

Andersen earned the only win for Ball State in singles play against Wisconsin-Green Bay, defeating Leopold Gomen Isling 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2.

Against Illinois, Leonard took his opponent into three sets in the closest match for Ball State.

The Cardinals return to action Jan. 25, hosting Eastern Illinois at 1 p.m.
