WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State falls to Northern Illinois

The Ball State women's volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to Mid-American Conference West Division leader Northern Illinois on Friday at Worthen Arena.

The Cardinals fall to 13-11 overall on the season and 7-4 record in the MAC.

Offensively, the Cardinals were held to a .193 attack percentage on 56 total kills. 

Four Ball State players registered at least 11 kills in the match, led by middle attacker Kelly Hopkins with 13. 

Outside hitter Alex Fuelling added 12 kills, while Hayley Benson and Sabrina Mangapora added 11 each.

Junior setter Jenna Spadafora paced the Cardinal offense with 51 assists on a .402 set percentage.

The Huskies were able to hit .259 in the match on 54 kills. 

The Cardinals had seven team blocks, led by Hopkins with two solo blocks and three assists.

Spadafora had three assists and Mangapora added a solo block.

Libero Kati Vasalakis had 14 digs to lead the Ball State defense. 

Ball State returns to action on Nov. 1, hosting Western Michigan in another MAC contest. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
