VOLLEYBALL: Team honored for academic performance

The Ball State women’s volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2013-14 season.

Ball State was one 134 NCAA Division I programs to receive the award, a new record.

The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball programs that show excellence in the classroom. In order to receive this award, a team must maintain a cumulative 3.30 grade point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.

The Cardinals volleyball team finished the academic year with a 3.36 GPA with 11 of the 16 athletes keeping a 3.30 average.

Two student-athletes led the way for Ball State by maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout the year, while five earned a 4.0 in the 2014 spring semester.
