Ball State signs post player

The Ball State men’s basketball program wasted little time when the player signing period opened today.

Junior college post presence, Bik Gill, has signed the fifth and final national letter of intent to play under head coach James Whitford.

Gill is transferring from Owens Community College located in Perrysburg, Ohio, where he averaged 15.3 points and 9.9 rebounds per game last season. The 6-foot-8 Toronto native ranked in the NJCAA top 10 in blocks and rebounds with 73 and 298, respectively.

He has two years of eligibility left in his collegiate career and will bolster a depleted frontcourt after seniors Chris Bond and Majok Majok graduated. Gill’s statistics sheet from last season looks similar to Majok’s, as Gill recorded 14 double-doubles. Gill will join lone senior Matt Kamieniecki, freshman Franko House, sophomore Bo Calhoun and redshirt freshman Mading Thok in the frontcourt.

Gill will join the 2014 recruiting class that includes Sean Sellers, Jeremie Tyler and Rashaun Richardson. Another Canadian will join Gill once Francis Kiapway joins the team by way of Connecticut.
