UPDATE: Ball State student jogger hit by car in 'fair condition,' officials say

UPDATE: A student who was hit by a car while jogging Tuesday afternoon remains at IU Health Ball Memorial hospital in "fair" condition, officials at Ball Memorial said.

Emily Case, 20, was removed from intensive care this morning. According to The Star Press, Case suffered a concussion but no broken bones.

Driver Krystalin Taylor has been cited for disregarding a traffic signal after running a red light at the intersection of Wheeling and Riverside avenues and hitting Case, said Muncie police Sgt. Bruce Qualls.


EARLIER: Police say a Ball State University student was badly hurt when she was struck by a car while jogging near the campus.

Muncie police say 20-year-old Emily Case of Columbus was hit Tuesday at an intersection several blocks east of the campus. The Star Press reports her head hit the car's windshield and the impact knocked her about 20 feet.

Case was taken to a Muncie hospital in serious condition.

WRTV reports the driver told officers she didn't see Case because she wasn't paying attention and drove through a stop light. The driver was ticketed for disregarding a signal.
