Three stranded boaters rescued from river

Individuals flagged down motorist after abandoning their boat

Three individuals were rescued the Mississinewa River in Eaton around 4:30 p.m. after being stranded without their boat.

Waiting Emergency Medial Services determined the individuals did not sustain any injuries or require any emergency medical attention, said Jason Rogers, the Delaware County emergency management director.

Rogers said after their boat got caught on tree limbs, the individuals left their boat and then were unable to get back to it due to a strong current.

The individuals were able to flag down a motorist and call for help.

“I do not know how long they were out there before they were able to flag someone down.” Rogers said.

The Muncie fire department rescue unit and Indiana department of natural resources law enforcement division worked together to get the individuals out of the water.
