SGA slates release platform points

Here's a list of slates' platform points to help you keep track during SGA election season.


SPARK (1st nominated)

Objective S – “Spark an increased sense of safety on and around campus”

•Increase amount of student transportation

•Improve lighting on and around campus

•Promote the development of a Blue Light app for students

 

Objective P – “Spark the growth of university pride in Ball State students”

•Regenerate campus traditions

•Invite more alumni to university events

•Create more programming events for students, such as “Benny’s Birthday Bash”

 

Objective A – “Spark an enhanced student academic experience”

•Market resources to help students graduate in four years

•Partner with the Rinker Center to establish cohesive relationships among international programs

•Work with contributors to provide financial assistance for Study Abroad and immersive learning programs 

 

Objective R – “Spark better relationships between Ball State organizations” 

•Create unity on campus by expanding relationships between organizations and philanthropic efforts

•Increase communication and accessibility with other organizations

•Hold monthly spaghetti dinners with other organizations

 

Objective K – “Spark an increased interest in the Muncie community”

•Raise pride and appreciation of Muncie with campus community

•Create events in downtown Muncie to build interest in local attractions

•Sponsor “Homecoming Village” to support businesses in the Village

Cardinal United (2nd nominated)

Students

•Offer $500 philanthropy grant during Homecoming 

•Offer free guest sports ticket per student ID and semester to increase attendance 

•Create sublease search system, similar to Roommate Search

•Create First Undergraduate Experience in Leadership (F.U.E.L.) to build campus leaders

•Make interactive Youtube channel to raise student awareness and address questions

•Provide more collaboration between SGA and student trustee        

 

Campus/Technology

•Make Quick Charge Cell Phone Stations in Student Center and Bracken Library

•Create online portal to report maintenance issues on campus

•Make bus stops more user friendly and secure by improving available shelters

•Create Purple Loop to run through the Village, up Light Street and across Riverside and McKinley avenues.

•Create additional stops at the corners of New York and Bethel avenues and Bethel Avenue and Linden Street.

 

Outreach

•Fight bullying through educational programming at Delta Elementary School

•Set up Adopt a Street program for organizations to clean up trash and litter

•Create Care for Kids for seasonal community service for Muncie youth

•Create Indiana Student Government Invitational as a collaborative annual conference

 

Student Government Association

•Achieve National Accreditation for Ball State’s SGA

•Create open elections for Chief Justice to avoid corruption and increase accountability

•Create online reservation system for meetings with executive slate

•Work with state representatives to create student-focused legislation

Fusion (Final nomination)

Reinfusing foundation

•Increase wireless capabilities on campus

•Expand “Oops Voucher” for Parking Services to all full-time students

•Adjust Banner System to be more user friendly and increase bandwidth

 

Reinfusing pride

•Begin process of getting alcohol sales permitted at football games

•Aid BSU Dance Marathon in growing their philanthropic event

 

Reinfusing opportunity

•Create “Organizations 101” workshops for students

•Make progress toward having Cardinal Cash accepted at Village businesses

•Help sororities fundraise to build sorority housing
