Residence Halls have Homecoming-themed menu planned for Tuesday

10/08/12 7:53 p.m.

Some of the dining halls are participating in the Homecoming festivities this year with a special dinner and a free giveaway for students who attend.

LaFollette, Noyer and Elliott halls will serve the dinner to get students pumped up and ready for Homecoming Week.

Some of the special items on the menu include shrimp cocktails, foot-long hot dogs and assorted desserts.

Each dining hall will have decorations according to the "Play Your Cards Right" theme of Homecoming.

Students who dine in one of these facilities will receive a free drawstring backpack. The usual dinner menus will be served at other dining halls.

"This is a special dinner for residents, it is something different, and all they have to do is use their meal swipe," said Robert Saxon, residence halls chairman on the Homecoming Steering Committee.

The residence halls dinner has been going on for many years during Homecoming Week. One reason the dinner was started was to involve Dining Services.

"This is a way for Dining Services to participate in the Homecoming festivities," Saxon said. "They take it seriously, and they go all out with decorating and making sure the dinners are well prepared."

The dinners begin at 5 p.m., and after, students are encouraged to attend the Talent Search at 7:30 p.m. in John R. Emens Auditorium.
