WOMEN'S TENNIS: Rain doesn't stop Ball State during Invitational

Cardinals pull out five of six doubles matches

Despite enough rain to force a location change, Ball State women's tennis team got off to a strong start hosting the Ball State Invitational.

Rain forced the invitational to be moved from Cardinal Creek Tennis Center to the YMCA. The squad was able to win five of their six doubles matches at the YMCA. Once the rain stopped, the event was moved back to Cardinal Creek Tennis Center where the singles matches took place.

Assistant coach Whitney Wilson said this tournament gives the team's three freshmen their first chance to see what collegiate tennis is like. Two out of the three freshmen had the chance to finish day one with a singles record of 2-0

Unlike the spring season, the fall season is all about the players individually. Each player is guaranteed two doubles matches and three singles match over the two day span.

Day two of the invitational will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. at Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
