Campus zombie walk to benefit ARF and Second Harvest Food Bank

The walking dead will shamble through Muncie on Saturday.

Muncie's first Zombie Walk, hosted by Scarevania Haunted House and Grace Village Campus Ministry, will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank and the Animal Rescue Fund.

The walkers, who are encouraged to dress as zombies, can gather at 3 p.m. on the Quad to start the outbreak of an "infection." The reanimated dead will then begin the march at 4 p.m.

From the Quad, the walkers will go through the Village on University Avenue, go north on Martin Street, cross Riverside Avenue and then head back to the Quad.

Travis Harvey, owner of Village Green Records, is supporting the event the best way he can - by spreading word. He said he is enthusiastic about the marchers walking past VGR.

"The route is a chain between the Village and campus," Harvey said. "It's important to bring students into the Village and show what the Village has to offer to students. As a businessman in the Village, that benefits me greatly."

People of all ages are encouraged to attend the walk as zombies and to bring non-perishable goods and pet food.
