The Ball State University Alumni Association announced the six recipients of the 2012 Benny Award on Wednesday, associate chairperson Kim Stout said.
The Benny Award is given to those who have shown and contributed talent, energy and time to the Ball State Alumni Association, according to the association.
Those chosen to receive the award include Jerilyn "Jeri" Giska, Amy Gregg, Calvin "Cal" Lee, Philip Metcalf, Ed Sitar and Stephanie Walton.
Giska graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in management. She is an English teacher at Saint Henry High School in Hebron, Ky. She is receiving the award for her service to the Alumni Council from 2004 to 2011.
Gregg is currently the associate professor of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management at Ball State. She is receiving the award for her volunteer service to Ball State and the Alumni Association.
Lee graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He retired from teaching in 1991 after teaching 5th and 6th grade for 35 years. He is receiving the award for his service to the Alumni Association as a member of the Northeastern Indiana Alumni Chapter from 1985 to 2010.
Metcalf received a degree in mathematics. He is the career and technical coordinator for the Wawasee School Corporation in Syracuse, Ind. He is receiving the award for his service to the Alumni Council as the Teachers College Alumni Society representative from 2009 to 2011.
Sitar graduated with a degree in environmental design and urban planning. He is an economic development manager for ComEd in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. He is receiving the award for service to the Alumni Council as an at-large member from 2005 to 2011.
Walton received a Bachelors of Science degree in journalism. She is receiving the award for her service to the Alumni Council as an at large member representative from 2000 to 2011.
The recipients of the Benny Award will be honored during Homecoming Weekend this fall and Stout will present the awards on Oct. 12 at the Alumni Center.
