WOMEN'S TENNIS: Ball State travels down I-69 to play Butler

Wild currently on a two-match losing streak

After five consecutive losses, the Ball State women's tennis team will look to get its season on track today as it travels down I-69 to Butler University to take on the Bulldogs.

The Cardinals (4-5) are looking for a much-needed win after five losses of a combined total of 10-25.

Ball State has two familiar opponents with Butler this season — Indiana University and Dayton. Like the Cardinals, the Bulldogs also lost to the Hoosiers 7-0. The Bulldogs beat the Flyers 6-1 just as the Cardinals did.

Ball State is in the middle of a month-long road stretch on their schedule; they won't return for a home match until April 6.

Road matches aren't a nuisance for senior Sarah Hebble. She said she enjoys them.

"I think it's a lot of fun," Hebble said. "I think it's fun to travel with the team. There are bonding experiences that you don't have [at home] because you get to spend a lot more time together."

The Bulldogs know how the Cardinals are feeling right now; they are in a four-match losing streak themselves.

Ball State No. 1 singles player Courtney Wild will likely face Butler's Stephanie McLoughlin. McLoughlin was inserted at No. 1 two matches ago, and is 1-1 since.

Wild is 6-3 in singles so far this season, but she's riding a two-match losing streak.

First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Indianapolis.
