Shane Witmer has set a high standard for himself.
Even after he recorded a near triple-double with 10 kills, 11 digs and six block assists in Ball State's 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-13) win over Lindenwood on Thursday, the freshman outside attacker declined to give himself much credit.
"It didn't feel like I had played that good of a match," he said.
A little humility didn't hurt Ball State much throughout the match. A more up-tempo offensive style the coaching staff implemented this week gave the Cardinals a spark in production.
Witmer said Ball State had worked on speeding up its passing and setting for Wednesday's match and was able to use it effectively against Lindenwood.
Although the team's attack percentage gradually decreased as the match drew on, it exploded in the final set for a rate of .458.
Ball State will return to action on Saturday as it continues it's Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association schedule with a home match against Quincy at 7:30.
