MEN'S TENNIS: Ball State extends winning streak to eight games

Leonard wins both No. 2 singles matches

After his three-set win over Illinois State clinched a 4-3 win for Ball State last week, senior Zane Smith came into the weekend with a significant amount of confidence.

Playing in match play in Dayton, Ohio, on Saturday, Smith didn't let up.

In Ball State's first match against Army, he defeated Alex Holland in No.3 singles by a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Smith continued his success against Air Force by defeating Landon Kinsey 6-2, 6-1.

Freshman Ray Leonard extended his singles winning streak to eight matches as he defeated Army's Alex Van Velzer 6-4, 6-2 and Air Force's Andy Jackson 6-4, 6-1. Both matches were played at the No. 2 singles position.

The wins moved Ball State's winning streak to eight games and its overall record to 8-2 on the season.

Ball State will wrap up its weekend trip today when it plays Lipscomb. First serve is at 10 a.m
