Former band assistant faces sex charges in NE Ind.

WINCHESTER, Ind. — Police in northeastern Indiana are looking for a former high school assistant band director who faces charges of having sex with a 16-year-old girl.

Allen County Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Jeremy Tinkel told The Star Press of Muncie that 24-year-old Ryan P. Shaneyfelt had not been arrested as of Friday. The Winchester man was wanted on felony charges of child seduction.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the girl told police she met Shaneyfelt while participating in the Winchester High School marching band. The affidavit said Shaneyfelt had sex with the girl at a Fort Wayne home that he was house-sitting for a friend.

Shaneyfelt had no listed telephone number.

Randolph Central Superintendent Gregory Hinshaw said Shaneyfelt has been removed from the list of approved teachers.
