Muncie Downtown looking for event help

The Muncie Downtown Development Partnership and the Horizon Convention Center are looking for Ball State student volunteers to help with the first annual Light up Downtown "Kick-Off Celebration," which is on Nov. 26.

The organizations need help setting up prior to the event on the 25th and 26th. They also need volunteers to decorate items for the planned Winter Wonderland.

Items for the Winter Wonderland can include trees, wreaths, centerpieces, topiaries and others, which the organizations will auction to raise money for the Muncie Downtown Development Partnership.

Teams that decorate items will receive visible recognition at the event, as well as 10 general admissions passes and other benefits. Decorators can deliver their items to the Horizon Convention Center between 8 am and 5 pm November 21-23.

"It's a big undertaking and any volunteers to come our way are certainly welcome," said Jody Clevenger, director of operations for the Horizon Convention Center.

Clevenger said this is the first "Kick-off Celebration," though she hopes it will become an annual event. The celebration will mark the beginning of a series of holiday events Downtown Development has planned, and will feature a Winter Wonderland, Shopping Village, North Pole Workshop, and a Kick-off Dinner Dance in the evening.

Students interested in volunteering or you would like to decorate an item for the Winter Wonderland, contact Clevenger at 765-751-9141, or e-mail her at jclevenger@horizonconvention.com.
