INDIANAPOLIS — A teacher at an Indianapolis charter school has been arrested on a preliminary charge of sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old student.
Bruce Ryan was released on bond Monday after he was booked into the Marion County Jail. His initial court appearance was scheduled for Thursday.
The 43-year-old Ryan teaches physics at the Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School, which issued a statement saying he had been placed on administrative leave.
The school's development director, Bev Rella, called the allegation a "regrettable incident" and said the school is cooperating with police.
Police said officers were called to the school Sunday to investigate the girl's claim.
Tindley is a public charter school for grades 6-12 that opened in 2004. Gov. Mitch Daniels and U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan visited the school in April.
