WOMEN'S TENNIS: Three Ball State players win singles brackets in BSU Invitational

Cardinals end tournament with a 7-8 record

The Ball State women's tennis team completed the final day of the Ball State Invitational on Saturday evening.

Although Ball State ended the day with a 7-8 record, three Ball State players won the championship of their respective singles bracket: freshman Courtney Wild, senior Sarah Hebble and senior Kylee Johnson.

The day opened with singles matches, where the Cardinals went 2-5. Those two wins came from the combination of Hebble and junior Paola Rodriguez, defeating Valparaiso 8-1, and the duo of junior Lauren Pickrel and senior Dena Boulieris, beating Wright State 8-3.

In singles, all three Ball State champions beat players from Eastern Kentucky University.

Wild downed Jessica Albuquerque 6-4, 6-3.

Hebble beat Carmen Rodriguez 6-3, 6-2.

Finally, Johnson defeated Soioa Oscoz 7-5, 6-4.

The Cardinals' next challenge is in the ITA Regionals in Memphis next week.
