International Student Volunteers Recruiting

Today, students have the opportunity to attend an informational meeting that could be the start of a trip of a lifetime.

International Student Volunteers is a non-profit organization that allows students to combine volunteer projects with traveling abroad.

"Most of all, it's a really rewarding opportunity to give back to these communities and do something to help them," Rikke Harker, New Zealand representative for ISV, said.

Students have the opportunity to travel to destinations around the world through ISV for two weeks up to three months. Destinations include South Africa, Ecuador and Australia. Community development projects include sea turtle conservation, teaching English to children, home and community building, rainforest regeneration and elephant conservation projects.

All of these give the students an opportunity to help communities around the world and experience the adventures and sites the countries have to offer, Harker said.

Students interested are invited to an informational meeting in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center to learn more about destinations, volunteer projects, costs, fundraising opportunities and to meet with others interested in helping others and traveling the world.

Meetings will take place every hour on the hour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today in room 305.

Harker said students of all interests could benefit from ISV.
